Prince Harry and Megan Markle tied the knot on 19th May 2019 at St. George’s Chapel, and this day will indeed go down in history. It’s not just because the price found his princess. It’s because of the fact that the price found a princess who was older than him, previously divorced and is a former TV actress. Despite what people had to say, and despite what the royal family protocol demands from a princess-to-be, Megan and Harry defied all odds and had a royal fairy tale wedding.
The ceremony started at 12 pm at St George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle. The bride-to-be Megan was walked down the aisle by Prince Harry’s father Prince Charles since her own father did not make it to the wedding. Following the vows, the couple made their way through Windsor Castle after which they went for the reception to St George’s Hall. The couple wanted to have a public carriage ride so that the spectators and public could feel that they were a part and parcel of the wedding as well.
Megan adorned a basic white wedding gown which was designed by British designer Clare Waight Keller for Givenchy. The designer even created custom-made shoes for the princess to be. She also wore Queen Mary’s diamond bandeau tiara, probably her ‘something borrowed’. The flower bouquet she carried was picked out by Prince Harry himself. It also included Forget-Me-Nots, the favorite flowers of his late mother Princess Diana. Though Megan’s dress was considered too simple and too basic for the likes of a Princess, it had a beautiful intricate veil. Markle paid a tribute to all 53 countries of the Commonwealth with the 5-meter long wedding veil, as it represented the followers of each Commonwealth country. Prince Harry wore his Blues and Royals frockcoat uniform, even though he took over the title of Captain General of the Royal Marines in 2017 – which means he had that uniform to choose from too.
All in all, the royal couple looked happy and so in love! In fact, at the altar, Harry even whispered to Megan ‘You look amazing”. As a wedding fit from the Queen, Prince Harry and Megan received new titles -The Duke and Duchess of Sussex. This is a wedding that’ll go down in history without a doubt – especially for the way the married couple broke off from tradition.
