Every time you get an upset stomach or any form of physical sickness, you make a promise to yourself and your loved ones to follow a strict and healthy diet the very moment you recover from it, but seldom does it get fulfilled. • Wake up early : Waking up early is one of the best things you could do for your body. The ancient principle of ‘Early to bed, early to rise makes a man healthy wealthy and wise’ does hold true. It gives your lungs an opportunity to breathe the fresh morning air, which is a distant possibility if you are used to waking up late, especially when you’re surrounded by skyscrapers and traffic in a busy city life.
    Routine

  • Having a routine : When you are bound by a timetable, your mind automatically tells you what to do next. You tend to deviate less from your ‘healthy lifestyle’. It will help you save more time and erase the dilemma of “what to do next?”, from your daily routine. You tend to procrastinate less as the routine becomes ingrained into your system and you almost do it subconsciously or out of habit.

  • Drink more water : This is probably every mother’s solution to all your health problems, and rightly so in many ways. Water helps to detoxify your body, removes fatigue, improves kidney function and gives that extra glow to your skin. But, most importantly, after a tiring, long, busy and ‘dry’ day, a glass of water can give you orgasms.

  • Have small and frequent meals : Eating small meals at regular intervals, makes you consume lesser amount of calories, because you have your next meal ready even before you have an empty stomach or cravings for food. If you eat two to three meals a day, you will probably end up gorging down everything on the menu at a relatively higher quantity, restricting you from attaining your ‘health goals’. Eating frequently also boosts your metabolism helping you shed those extra kilos.

  • Concentrate on the macros : Try to control your intake of macro nutrients (carbohydrates, protein, and fat). The calculation is pretty easy:
  1. Carbohydrates : Body weight(kg) x 2.2 x 3
  2. Protein : Body weight(kg) x 2.2 x 1.2
  3. Fat : Body weight(kg) x 2.2 x 0.5

Fat here is referred to as unsaturated fat or ‘healthy fat’. It helps to raise your HDL(High Density Lipoprotein) Cholesterol which is beneficial for your heart and brain.

  • Get adequate sleep : All the above mentioned points are irrelevant and ineffective if you aren’t able getting enough sleep. Allowing your body proper 6-8 hours of sleep, is extremely beneficial and can work wonders for your body. This habit will show its magic from the first day itself even before the other practices set in.
fruits

  • Do not avoid fruits in the name of sugar : Some people tend to believe that having fruits can deregulate their sugar levels and make them fat, umm…not really! In fact, fruits contain fructose sugar which is necessary for the body and which doesn’t make you fat unlike sucrose. Moreover, they contain a sea of vitamins and minerals which are as important as your macros. Eating all varieties of fruits works wonders for your body, unless you have been recommended a certain diet type (eg. Ketosis) by your dietitian.

Changing your existing habits is difficult, but not impossible. Follow the 21-Day rule.Try inculcating the above 7 habits and incorporating them into your lifestyle. If you are able to do it, trust me you will take a big leap towards that ‘ideal lifestyle’.
