Releasing on 29th September, 2017, American Made is based on a true story. A true story of Barry Seal, a pilot in the military turned into a drug smuggler. The movie gives you an insight into what actually happened to Seal and why he did what he did. Set in the 1970s, Seal is shown to be hired by a CIA agent to fly over South America with cameras installed to check on Soviet-backed insurgents. At the same time a Colombian drug cartel, the Medellin Cartel, takes hold of Seal and asks him to smuggle drugs into Louisiana. Caught between the drug cartel, the DEA, the CIA and eventually even the FBI, Seal’s story is perfect for the big screen.

The combination of Doug Liman (famously known for directing ‘The Bourne Identity’ and ‘Mr & Mrs Smith’) and Tom Cruise gives the movie a badass appeal. The witty one-liners and the madness in the trailer promises a fun and thrilling watch.

Disappointment: The portrayal of Seal by swoon-worthy Cruise seems a bit off as Seal in real life was very much on the heavier side. So much so that the drug lord of the Medellin Cartel, Pablo Escobar called Seal the “Fat Man”. But then again, with Tom Cruise on the big screen being all sexy, can you really complain?
