October has always been an amazing time to take a break and go out on a trip. October is known to be one of the kindest month, especially down south, with its amazing weather. So, all you Bangaloreans out there, take advantage of your geographical location and book your dates with these amazing places.

  1. Coorg

The romantic weather of this town in the Western Ghat makes Coorg one of the most prominent hill stations of Karnataka. Known as the ‘Land of Cauvery’, Coorg is famous for its world-class coffee and spice plantations. Oh, and how could I forget? Coorg’s amazing oranges!

And yes, don’t forget to pack your trekking shoes, for the pastoral greens of the hills are sure to call out to you.

How to get there:

By bus it will take you an average of 6 hours (minimum expense is Rs 400)

By car it will take you 5 hours, from Bangalore (via NH 275)

Coorg doesn’t have a train station. The nearest train station is Mysore, 90km away from Coorg.

  1. Mysore

Often referred to as a popular tourist destinationin the southern part of India, the land of Palaces should be on your list as well. This capital of Mysore Maharajas still retains its old charm. While the Mysore Palace is the best heritage site to visit, you can go a bit unconventional and explore the Folklore museum, spend some time with birds in Ranganathittu Bird Santuary or/and sit by and watch the fountain show at Brindavan Gardens.

How to get there:

By bus it will take you an average of 3.5 hours from Bangalore.

By train it will take you an average of 3 hours.

By car too it should take about 3 hours.

  1. Pondicherry

A popular beach destination, Pondicherry also hosts the Sri Aurobindo Ashram. A perfect place to connect with your lost self, Pondicherry has beautiful hotels and resorts to offer at a wide price range. So, if you are a romantic, walks through the French colonial architecture, boat rides in Paradise beach or lazing around the Rock beach appeal to you, Pondicherry is the right place to take your family and/or self to.

How to get there:

By train it can take to between 11 to 12 hours.

By car it will take about 7 hours (via NH 77)

  1. Gokarna

Although it is known to be thronged by youngsters, this beautiful beach town deserves families too. It will be a different yet memorable experience. Beautiful and clean beaches is what Gokarna has to offer, you wouldn’t mind spending all your time at the beach. To add to your experience, Gokarna also has amazing food to offer available on the shacks located across the beach.

How to get there:

The nearest railway station is in Ankola, 20km away from the main town of Gokarna. Bangalore to Ankola, it should take a minimum of 17 hours.

The nearest airport is Dabolim airport, 140km away.

  1. Hampi

This UNESCO World Heritage site is famous for its temples, forts and archaeological ruins. If history is your thing, if you have kids who love listening to stories of India’s ancient past, then Hampi is tailor-cut for you.

How to get there:

The nearest airport is in Hubli, 143km away.

The nearest train station is the Hospet junction, just 13 km away. From Bangalore, it takes an average of 11 hours to reach Hospet by train.

By car, it should take about 7 hours.
